How are we different than a big-name hatchery?
We don't have a catalog of products, we have a single-page flyer.
Any variety of any type of bird we have is a bird that we personally
breed and care about - we don't "farm out" or reserve chicks from other
sources.
We care about producing QUALITY birds, not necessarily quanitity.
Sometimes you may have to wait a while for availability for that reason.
We usually contact customers when we see chicks pipping, just before
and/or right after we ship live chicks. We like to hear that they arrived
okay, and guarantee live delivery AND live healthy chicks for the
first 24 hours.
If you have any questions before or after buying chicks or eggs, we will
be happy to help you in any way. We are not bankers and do
not have "hours", if you need something, call - if we are available, we
will answer. If not, please leave a message and we will return your call.
We don't consider ourselves to be a "hatchery" - we are a small game
bird and poultry farm. Our everyday "staff" consists of two people -
when things are extremely busy, it may be three. That's it! No
departments, extensions, sitting on hold....
We aren't a source for chicks - we are breeders who carefully select
the best stock to produce the upcoming generations of our birds.
WE CARE ABOUT OUR BIRDS. WE CARE ABOUT OUR CUSTOMERS.
Our prices may be higher than some standard hatchery prices, but we
deliver quality birds and back it up with customer service. Our prices
are based on what it costs us to produce the chicks or eggs, our
postage and shipping materials, and availability of certain chicks or
eggs.
OUR PACKAGING IS EXCEPTIONAL! We ship with properly labelled boxes,
hand-written address and phone number in case label integrity is a
problem (tears, weather, etc.), if it is cold we ship with heat packs
AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE, and...WE ONLY SHIP EXPRESS MAIL for day-old
chicks - never Priority Mail or parcel post, like "the big guys" do.
"Just in case", each box of chicks we ship out is PHOTOGRAPHED and labelled with the hatch date and time per Postal Regulations.
If you want substandard birds, substandard shipping, and substandard
customer service...you can find that at the big-name hatcheries. (Along
with health problems, crossbeaks and other genetic defects....)
