Photolisting of Varieties of Birds we raise....
Pictured left to right are: Texas A&M Coturnix, CBF SuperQuail (a
coturnix variety we have developed here), and a Jumbo Brown or XLD1
Coturnix Quail.
NOTE: You can click on any photo on this page as a link to more information about that variety.
Above are a sub-adult female Bobwhite and an adult male Bobwhite. The
varieties of Bobwhite that we raise are all larger varieties and
include Georgia Giant, Wisconsin Jumbo and Butler Bobwhite. (They all
basically look the same with very few color and size differences.)
These adorable ones above are Chinese Painted or Button Quail - and
they are cute as a button! They come in a variety of colors and endless
"sport" colors from cross-breeding the true colors - and we have
several different beautiful colors and enjoy them all!
These are Ringneck Pheasant in the photo above. The male is much more
brightly colored and has a blue/green head and characteristic white
band around his neck. Although rather plain in coloring, I think that
the hens are just as beautiful!
Above is a pair of Red Golden Pheasant. Other Ornamental Pheasant that
we have include Lady Amherst and Melinistic Pheasants. We hope to add
more varieties at some point in time!
Above are my Blue Jersey Giants, the rooster is Mr. Beefy and his
girlfriend is Henrietta. We also have Jersey Giants in Blue-Splashed
and Black, and hope to someday add White Jersey Giants to the menagerie.
Our Rare Heritage Turkeys in a photo taken late summer '06, we have
Slate Blue, Royal Palm and Black Spanish. The turkeys are very social
and would much rather interract with me than pose for a photo, so they
are difficult to get pictures of. Here, they thought I was ignoring
them. (Lucky me!)
Our guard dogs whose bark is worse than their bite, these are our
Guineas. We have the standard size, not jumbo guinea. We do not raise
very many of these tick-eating loud-mouths, and do not feel comfortable
selling hatching eggs as the egg itself is tough and strong but the
embryos are very fragile and do not ship nearly as well as other types
of poultry or gamebird eggs. Day-olds, called keets, may be your best
option if you are interested in a "start" of guinea fowl. Fowl or foul?
You be the judge! (LOL, I really like these guys but want to be honest
about the noise level - invest in headphones or ear plugs!)
NOT PICTURED: Unfortunately,
I have not been able to get suitable photos of our Ameraucana Chickens,
but will add photos when I can! Sorry for the inconvenience.
This is all of the poultry that we raise at this time. We are
not likely to add many different varieties, we are a rather small farm
and like to have a variety, but not a gigantic feed bill! Most
varieties of gamebirds that we have are available as hatching eggs,
day-olds, started birds, mature adults, flight-conditioned adults and
dressed birds. We also have eating eggs available - chicken eggs, quail
eggs and guinea eggs (they are great hard-boiled and smoked!). Guinea
eggs are by request only.
